Data

Your Data

When you enter any information on to the FBC, we will do our utmost to keep it safe and secure. We do this by:

• • Implementing HTTPS (secure HTTP) connections across the site. This means that when the data travels between your computer or device and our system, it cannot be intercepted and read by a third party.

• • Giving clubs choice. Clubs can decide which people have access to what information by assigning every user of the FBC a role. This gives them greater control and flexibility in determining who can view what data.

• • Keeping databases secure. The back end of the FBC, which holds the databases with the information in, is only accessed when necessary to perform system maintenance, development or diagnostics. Only the FBC Administrator has access to this area.

We will never release any information that we keep on the system about you without proper authority.

Who can view your data

Within your club, there are different levels of access for different types of people. For example, Superusers, Officials and Captains can see varying levels of information about the club and its users. This might include your name, contact details, availability information and more. It is down to them to be responsible with your information and to decide what they do with it.

Any member of your club can see basic information about you – for example, if they visit a match page, they can see a list of names of people who are playing in the match. This is one area where we would display your information to others.

There are many clubs on the BCS: your data is only shared with people in your club.

Who we share data with

One example would be our text messaging provider Twilio. We don’t send SMS messages ourselves; we tell Twilio what content we’d like a text message to have, who it should go to (the telephone number), then they send it on our behalf. It is necessary to send your phone number to Twilio so they know who to send the message to. They are only sent the information that is required to send the message.

Another example would be third party email providers. We use a third-party email provider (Postmark) to send our emails. This is because their infrastructure is optimised to send emails efficiently and in a timely manner. Similar to text messaging, in this case we would need to let the provider know the contents of the message and where to send it.

How to manage your data

At any time, you may visit the My Profile page to view and change what information the system has about you. You can also manage your notification methods here, so adding or removing email addresses and mobile numbers, and choosing whether you’d like to be contacted by these methods.

You and Your Account

Deleting your account

If you would like to delete your account, please contact your club Superusers. All data that existed about you in our system will be permanently deleted when they delete your account. If your club Superusers are unable to help, you can contact the FBC Administrator.

Contacting you

The FBC needs to contact you from time to time to support the site’s function. For example, we may email you to let you know you’ve been selected to play in a match. Another example would be that we send you a text message with a link to reset your password should you forget it.

You can always visit the My Profile page to determine how you’d like us to get in touch with you, or to unsubscribe from certain methods of contact entirely if you wish.
